Senior Women's Apparatus Finals

Yesterday saw the British team claim a fantastic Silver medal and Sunday gives the opportunity for four of the Senior gymnasts as well as Billie Mackenzie from the Junior team to add to team GB’s tally.

The big question going in to yesterday’s team final for senior women was whether the British girls could repeat the performance of Thursday when they qualified in an impressive and unprecedented third place. A medal in a team competition was, not so long ago, nothing more than a dream but today it became a reality. And it wasn’t even the bronze, it was SILVER for Great Britain.

After the huge excitement of Thursday, when the British women qualified for today’s Senior Team final in third position, the crowd at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham will be expectant of another thrilling competition and hopefully a successful result for the home team.
Senior Women's Competition Gets Underway Today

Today will see the much anticipated arrival of the British senior team at the NIA for their qualification performance. The team, led by veteran Beth Tweddle and the experienced Becky Downie also includes several new names who together will hope to challenge for a place in the team final on Saturday in Birmingham.

Junior Women's Podium Training Begins

The 2010 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics European Championships began for the junior gymnasts today with Podium training, and the first chance for the girls to test out the equipment they will be using when the competition starts with Junior Qualifications on Wednesday (28/04).

Junior European All Around Final

The Junior Individual All Around final was a competition for 3rd place. British gymnasts Max Whitlock and Sam Oldham had their own European Championship for Gold and Silver medals.

In Volos, 2006, the British Junior Team were 4th, close enough to feel the podium and want it badly. In Laussanne, 2008, they stood on top the podium, European Champions. In Birmingham 2010 GB Junior Men OWNED the podium, one little step higher in no way describing how far they finished above their nearest rivals.

Opening Ceremony Rehearsals

Rehearsals for the opening ceremony continue as performers took part in a 3 day intensive rehearsal period at the University of Wolverhampton. Groups who have never previously met came together for the first time to weave all the different parts of the 15 minute performance piece together.

The European Gymnastics Union (UEG) has released the Lists of Senior and Junior participants in the 2010 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships for Men, which will be held from 21st to 25th April at the National Indoor Arena (NIA) in Birmingham.
New International Success for the British Men

The British Men’s team (Louis Smith, Daniel Keatings, Daniel Purvis, Sam Hunter, Kristian Thomas and Ruslan Panteleymonov) who will represent GBR at the approaching European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham (21-25 April 2010), won the friendly international, versus Switzerland and Belarus, in Dietikon (SUI) on Saturday, 10 April. Great Britain put together a team total of 262.650 pts.
